The funny thing is, we weren't actually looking for a cabin when we found it.

A few friends showed us the listing and jokingly asked if we should buy a cabin. We went to view it out of curiosity and instantly fell in love. Four days later, it was ours.

It wasn't part of a long-term plan or something we had spent months searching for. The moment we stepped inside and saw the view, we knew this place was special.

What we love most about Higstad Hytta is the peace and quiet. There are no passing cars, no traffic noise, and very little to distract you from the surroundings. Whether we're sitting with a tea or coffee looking out across the valley, spending time in the sauna, or simply enjoying a slow morning, it's a place where we can completely switch off from everyday life.

Rachel is originally from the UK and Joakim is from Harstad. Together with our two young boys and our Finnish Lapphund, Lumi, we spend as much time as we can outdoors, camping and exploring Norway.

Although we love spending time at the cabin ourselves, it's simply too special to sit empty when we're not there. That's why we've chosen to share it with others.

Our hope is that every guest experiences the same sense of calm, space and connection to nature that made us fall in love with Higstad Hytta in the first place.
